All life on our planet is interconnected and needs to maintain balance and equilibrium in order to assure sustainability and survival. Nature has its ways of linking all species and ecosystems together. The interdependence of all species is a fact that humans, the dominant species on the planet, can no longer ignore. When one species goes extinct or one ecosystem is destroyed, equilibrium is disrupted, causing a domino effect that degrades the chance of survival for the remaining species. This is the Gaia principle: that all species and ecosystems are interdependent, and the balance of these ecosystems is essential.

To Gaia, no life is more important than any other. Yet, human beings, as the dominant species, have played a critical role in adversely affecting the survival of all, including themselves, by continually changing the environment and depleting resources in a way that does not replenish, respect or maintain the original supply. What may not be readily evident is that these man- made changes are causing global shifts that are now making this world a hostile place for the survival of our own species. What must be clearly stated is that the planet will probably survive these changes, but we as a species may not.

We see this as a mistake and believe that humanity can do better. Our role as the dominant and most intelligent species should be that of guardian and protector to help maintain, co-create and support this interdependence and connection of all life. We should be supporting Gaia, not depleting her. Gaiaville is an attempt to do that by creating a community, a village and man-made intervention that harmoniously blends with the environment and respects the life cycles of all life on Earth.

By establishing such a society, we believe that we can create a positive impact reverse the degradation of life caused by humanity’s thoughtless actions. If these principles are congruent with you, please join us.
